This summer has been a hot one, besides chilling in the water, often there is not much else you want to do. Especially for those who don’t have air conditioning in their homes, this is the case. The heat can give you some sleepless nights, and not much inspiration during the day on what to do. However, there is no need to worry, in this article you will read which activities you can do, during this beautiful summer. But as we all know these are strange times, so whenever you go out, pay attention to the local rules.

Activities in the city

Cities just have another feeling to them when it’s summertime. Terraces are open and most people are in a joyful mood. Most cities flourish during the summer and transform into a hotspot for people to get together. So, whenever you need some inspiration on what to do in the city, read this article.

Visit one of Hunter’s coffeeshops or bars

This one is a no brainer, whenever you want to chill out in the summer, just visit one of Hunter’s 6 coffeeshops or 3 bars. There you can enjoy great espresso’s or other coffees, also Hunter’s has a range of fresh juices and delicious brownies. You can either watch sports or play a game of pool with your friends.

Cycle through the city

In Amsterdam, there are more bicycles than people. This is not only because of the fact the Dutch love to cycle everywhere, but it’s the easiest way to get around the city. Whenever the weather is nice this summer, hop on a bike and explore one of the world’s most bike-friendly cities in the world.

Take a boat trip

Taking a boat trip during the summer is one of the best things you can do in the city. Enjoy a postcard-perfect vision of Amsterdam and have fun on the water at the same time. Sailing through the beautiful canals, while enjoying a cold drink is the ultimate summer activity in the city.

Summer is the perfect time to get your friends and family to the park and have some outdoor fun. Amsterdam has a rich park chilling culture, people bring their own food and drinks and sit in perfect circles facing each other. However, this is a cultural phenomenon that occurs at Dutch parties as well.

Organize a picnic

Organizing a picnic with friends and family during the summer months can be entertaining and a blast for the entire group. This is one of our favorite activities, especially nowadays with the corona measures. To avoid eating chips and unhealthy snacks, prepare some nice wraps. The great thing about wraps is, that you can vary endlessly with them and you can eat them cold as well.

Play some competitive games

In the park food and drinks are mostly the main activity, which is needless to say. Nonetheless, eating, and drinking aren’t the only things one can do in the park. Playing competitive games can bring out the kid you. There are countless games you can play in the park, our favorite one is an adult version of Tic-Tac-Toe: Use lengths of tape or rope to make a tic-tac-toe grid on the lawn, then try to get 3 in a row using Frisbees, Cornhole bags, Croquette balls, even rocks—pretty much anything you have lying around is fair game! Play this game 2 at a time with the winner taking a penalty drink before taking on the next challenger.

Rules and regulations

While these wonderful summer activities above are great to do, we should be careful while doing them. Because even though some of us feel that the corona storm has passed over. There are still strict rules and regulations in most of the concerning countries. So it’s important to respect the local corona rules. For that matter, we have summed up the most important corona rules of the Dutch government.

– If you have symptoms, get tested as soon as possible and stay at home
– Stay 1.5 meters away from other people
– Wash your hands often
– Cough and sneeze into your elbow
– Work from home if possible
– Avoid busy places and travel outside peak hours if possible
