What gets you high in weed?

What kind of weed will get me high? A joint, space cake or edibles, many people have tried some form of cannabis. By the way, we understand even if this does not apply to you. The idea of being high can be quite intimidating. If you do like to try weed, it might be a good idea to research what causes the “high” feeling you will experience. Therefore, in this blog we take you through what exactly is in marijuana and how to get high from marijuana.

What substances are found in marijuana?

There are a number of active substances found in marijuana that contribute to the high you will feel. In total, there are about five hundred different substances in a cannabis plant, we will only name the most important active substances in this blog.

THC

THC stands for tetrahydrocannabinol and is the main substance that provides the psychoactive effect of marijuana. On average, there is about eighteen percent of THC in marijuana in the Netherlands. This has been higher before, in 2004 we were at a THC peak in the Netherlands averaging 20 percent.

CBD

CBD stands for cannabidiol. This substance is only very slightly psychoactive and is mainly known for its ability to suppress pain and anxiety. Hence, CBD is also incorporated into other products such as oils and creams. CBD in marijuana will slightly inhibit the effect of THC and provides a slight calming effect.

CBG

CBG stands for cannabigerol, this substance is already produced during the growth of the cannabis plant. This substance is mainly sleep-inducing and has no other psychoactive effects.

CBN

CBN is the abbreviation for cannabinol. You would rather not have this active ingredient in your weed. CBN stems from the previously mentioned active ingredient THC, when THC oxidizes it is converted to CBN. Therefore, this substance is mostly found in poorly preserved weed or old weed. It still has some calming effect and some psychoactivity.

What gets you high in weed?

Each of the above substances has its own effect. In combination, they can enhance, inhibit and influence each other’s effects. So all of these substances contribute to that “high” feeling you get from marijuana, none of them work alone and the substances therefore only work in combination with each other.

What does a high from weed feel like?

All these scientific names and facts are quite interesting, but of course they also don’t really clarify exactly how such a high feels. In general, THC works the same biochemical way in everyone, yet there are several factors that make each experience personal. So how a high feels varies from person to person, but many people experience, for example: a better mood, sudden cravings, deep thoughts, increased creativity and enhanced social feelings.

A high takes some getting used to, but after a while you feel much more comfortable in your different state of consciousness. Would you also like to experience a high? Then stop by Hunter’s coffee shops.
